 Painting Description: For this lesson, we decided to incorporate Australian Aboriginal Art into our painting lesson. We discussed a little bit about Australia and where it was at on a map. Then, we discussed Clifford Possum Tjapaltjarri and his famous art work using dot work. We supplied paper bags, paint, cotton swabs, animal templates, and glue for the students. We had students cut their paper bags to their desired lengths, so they could begin their projects. We then lined them up and had them pick between a gecko and a kangaroo template. We asked students to glue their templates down on the paper bag and let them dry. While they were drying we had students sketch their ideas on their pre-assessments. We asked them to incorporate both warm and cool colors in their painting. Once the glue was dried, we had students get the paint colors they wanted and they began painting their dots using the cotton swabs. We asked them to utilize space and cover their bags in dots.
